The iPhone 5S is an impressive smartphone that comes with a fingerprint reader known as “Touch ID”, allowing users the convenience of unlocking the phone just by placing their finger on the home button. And once you start getting used to the Touch ID, you’ll get hooked to it.
It is a 7.3 mm thick phone with slanting edges, perfect for comfortably carrying it in your hand. Thanks to its increased image sensor and dual-color LED flash, which gives a more precise, sharper image quality with better colours.
The display is similar to its earlier model iPhone 5, with its 1136 x 640 pixels, a 4-inch diagonal display at 3 to 6 retina resolution, giving you a beautiful and bright display.
The iPhone 5s is powered by the new A7 processor, which combines a 64-bit chip with better processing capabilities, making the iPhone 5S double its speed than its previous model iPhone 5. And because of its OpenGLES 3.0, the 5S has a pretty neat graphic performance, combined with its A7 processor is the motion coprocessor, M7.
What this does is it continuously collects motion data from the sensor with GPS and accelerometers. This enables health monitoring or movement data without tapping the main A7 chip and hence results in saving energy.
However, the M7’s purpose is not only for the sake of fitness apps; even a built-in maps app can use it to track whether you are in a moving car or not. If you are parked, it quickly registers the changes and provides you with walking directions.
Another way how M7 comes in handy is – supposed say you haven’t been using your phone for a while, and it has been lying stagnant in a spot for a while, then the phone’s background network activity is reduced and preserves battery life. The 5S, with its improved processing power and speed, does not significantly affect battery life.
And when it comes to battery, Apple claims the iPhone 5s has a somewhat better battery life than earlier generations. It comes with 10 hours of talk time, 10 hours LTE browsing, and 225 hours of standby time.
The iPhone 5S comes with a reliable camera that responds quickly. It has a multi-tonal flash that provides a more realistic and softer shot and works excellent in lower lit conditions. Its camera app also features the burst mode, which allows you to take a bunch of pictures as you hold on the shutter. In one second, it takes ten full quality photos from which you can pick your favourites.
The slow Mo mode shoots 120 frames per second, which is significantly more than the rate of a standard video, meaning it gives the option of a super slowed down slow-mo mode almost to quarter speed.
